The Customs, Tax, and Customs Authority at Jeddah Islamic Port have successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle 27.636 kilograms of cocaine, hidden within a shipment of potatoes destined for the kingdom through the port.

During the inspection of an incoming container, the authorities discovered the sizable quantity of cocaine concealed within the air conditioning unit of the shipment.

Following the seizure, coordination was made with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to apprehend the recipients of the seized contraband within the kingdom. Two individuals were subsequently arrested.

The Customs, Tax, and Customs Authority reiterated their commitment to enhancing customs surveillance on the kingdom’s imports and exports, thwarting smuggling attempts in alignment with their strategic objective of safeguarding society and the economy by curbing such illicit activities.

The authority urged the public to contribute to the fight against smuggling by reporting any related crimes through designated channels, ensuring confidentiality, and offering financial rewards for valid reports.

They can contact the authority through the dedicated security hotline (1910), email ([email protected]), or the international number (00966114208417). These channels ensure the confidential receipt of reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of customs regulations, with financial incentives provided to informants for accurate information.
