French football icon Zinedine Zidane has officially clarified his stance regarding the possibility of coaching Bayern Munich in the future.
When asked if he might take up the managerial role at Bayern, Zidane responded unequivocally, stating, “No, I will just go to watch the game,” during an interview with Germany’s Sky network.
He added that he hopes Real Madrid, his former team, will come out victorious.
Recent media speculation has placed Zidane among the candidates to lead Bayern Munich after the current season, as the club is expected to part ways with its current coach, Thomas Tuchel. However, Zidane’s comments have now set the record straight, cooling down the rumours.
The upcoming Wednesday evening will see a clash between the Bavarian giant and Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium for the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
The first leg, held last Tuesday at Munich’s Allianz Arena, ended in a 2-2 draw.
Zidane, 51, has a decorated coaching career confined to two stints with Real Madrid (2016-2018 and 2019-2021), during which he secured several titles, including three UEFA Champions League trophies.
This latest development underscores his current disinterest in pursuing a coaching role outside of his previous engagements with Real Madrid.
