A consultative meeting on Gaza held in Riyadh on Saturday emphasized the urgent need to end the war in the Gaza Strip and achieve an immediate and complete ceasefire.
The statement from the meeting highlighted the necessity to ensure the protection of civilians according to international humanitarian law and to lift all restrictions impeding the delivery of humanitarian aid to the sector.
The meeting, chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and attended by ministers from the Arab Sextet group, expressed their support for all efforts aimed at international recognition of an independent Palestinian state, fulfilling the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
Participants stressed the importance of taking irreversible steps towards implementing the two-state solution, recognizing the State of Palestine based on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
They affirmed that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territories and expressed their categorical rejection of any attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land and any military operations in the Palestinian city of Rafah.
The ministers warned against the continuation of Israel’s illegitimate actions in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, which undermine the two-state solution, including settlement expansion, land confiscation, military operations against Palestinians, settler violence, and the siege on religious freedoms for Muslims and Christians.
The meeting was presided over by Prince Faisal bin Farhan at the Saudi Foreign Ministry in Riyadh, discussing the developments of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
The meeting was attended by Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Minister of Civil Affairs Hussein Al-Sheikh, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates Anwar Gargash, and Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammed Al-Khulaifi.
