Algeria has expressed its shock and condemnation at the brutal killing of a young boy named Nael in France, who was revealed to be one of its citizens.

In an official statement, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad expressed resentment over the tragic death and the disturbing circumstances surrounding it.

The statement conveyed Algeria’s confidence in the French government’s commitment to fulfilling its duty to protect Algerian citizens and ensure their security.

While it was not previously known that Nael was of Algerian origin, the Algerian government affirmed its keen interest in following the developments of this tragic case.

Nael, a 17-year-old, was killed on Tuesday in Nanterre during a traffic check when he was shot at close range.

The police claimed that the young man was driving too fast in the bus lane and had refused to stop at a red light, justifying their actions.

However, on Thursday, the Public Prosecution charged the policeman responsible for the shooting with “premeditated murder” and placed him in pre-trial detention, citing that the use of weapons did not meet the legal conditions.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his condolences and sadness over the death of Nael, while the government called for calm following a night of tension in the Paris suburbs that continued until Thursday.

The case has sparked outrage and calls for justice in both France and Algeria, highlighting the need for the protection of citizens and respect for human rights.
