The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) summoned the Swedish Ambassador, Liselott Andersson, to convey the UAE’s firm protest and condemnation regarding the burning of copies of the Holy Quran by extremists in Stockholm, Sweden.

The UAE expressed deep concern over Sweden’s failure to fulfill its international obligations and its disregard for social values.

The UAE emphasised the importance of monitoring hate speech and expressions of racism that undermine peace and security. It rejected the notion of using freedom of expression as a justification for such heinous acts.

Ayesha Bin Suwaidan Al Suwaidi, Director of the European Affairs Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented a formal protest note to the Ambassador, reaffirming the UAE’s rejection of any actions aimed at destabilizing security and violating human values.

The protest note highlighted the role of hate speech and extremism in fueling conflicts and emphasized the need to respect religious symbols, avoid incitement, and foster unity.

The UAE called for international cooperation to uphold the universal principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, promoting stability and sustainable development.

The UAE’s strong protest reflects its commitment to protecting religious values, fostering global peace, and promoting a culture of tolerance and understanding.
