A police officer was stabbed in the shoulder while responding to an incident involving an armed man in Mandeville Road, Enfield, North London, on a recent Tuesday afternoon.
Following the incident, a 30-year-old man was arrested on charges of attempted murder, having inflicted a severe shoulder injury on the officer.
The officer received immediate first aid from other police officers at the scene, including the application of a tourniquet, before being transported to a hospital where he is currently in stable condition.
Assistant Commissioner Matt Jukes commended the officer for his remarkable bravery and dedication.
During a hospital visit, Jukes noted the officer’s humility and reluctance to focus on his actions, preferring instead to highlight the efforts of the police medic and his colleagues who provided essential first aid and apprehended the suspect.
The officer discussed his team’s dedication to protecting the community with pride, emphasizing his role in shielding the public from harm.
Despite sustaining injuries during his arrest, the suspect has since been released from the hospital.
The Metropolitan Police have notified their directorate of professional standards about the incident, as per standard procedure.
