Saudi Arabia‘s Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense, received today at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah His Excellency Mr. Imran Khan, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of Pakistan held a session of talks, with His Highness welcoming the Pakistani Prime Minister to the Kingdom. Khan expressed his delight at the visit and meeting with the Crown Prince.

Following the session, the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of Pakistan signed an agreement to establish the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council.

They also witnessed the signing of four agreements and memoranda of understanding. During the meeting, they emphasized the depth of the relations between the two brotherly countries and the importance of expanding and intensifying bilateral cooperation and coordination in various fields.

They exchanged views on issues concerning both countries regionally and internationally, contributing to supporting and enhancing security and stability.

Prime Minister Imran Khan praised the leadership role of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in enhancing Islamic unity and the positive role of the Kingdom in resolving issues facing the Islamic nation, striving for regional and international peace and security.

The two sides discussed ways to strengthen and enhance economic and trade relations between the two countries by exploring investment opportunities in light of Saudi Vision 2030 and development priorities in Pakistan.

They expressed satisfaction with the strength of bilateral military and security relations and agreed to further cooperation to achieve common goals.

Both sides emphasized the importance of concerted efforts by the Islamic world to confront extremism, violence, sectarianism, and the relentless pursuit of international peace and security.

They stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts to combat terrorism, which is not affiliated with any religion, race, or color, in all its forms and manifestations, regardless of its source.

They also affirmed their full support for all legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, by the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant UN resolutions.

They also supported political solutions in Syria and Libya, as well as the efforts of the United Nations and its envoys in this regard.

The two sides emphasized the importance of supporting efforts to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis based on the three references: the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and relevant Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2216.

They condemned the attacks and assaults by terrorist groups and militias, including the Houthi militia, using ballistic missiles and drones against the Kingdom’s territory, vital facilities, and civilian targets. They expressed grave concern about the threat to the security of oil exports and the stability of global energy supplies.

Prime Minister Imran Khan praised the Kingdom’s initiative to end the crisis in Yemen, aiming to achieve security and stability for Yemen, benefiting the region and its people with goodness and prosperity.

He also congratulated the Kingdom’s government on the success of organizing and holding the G20 Summit meetings and the positive decisions taken in all economic, developmental, environmental, health, and energy fields.

He welcomed the Saudi Green and Middle East Green initiatives launched by Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, reflecting the Kingdom’s leadership role in addressing common international issues, including combating climate change, and its significant impact on the region and its inhabitants.

The Crown Prince also welcomed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “Clean and Green Pakistan” initiative, as well as the successful “Ten Billion Tree Tsunami” initiative. Khan praised the Kingdom’s efforts in organizing the Hajj season for the past year 1441 AH, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and its efforts to serve the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors, pilgrims, and Umrah performers.

Attending the session of talks were Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior; Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense; Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers, Advisor to the National Security Dr. Musaid bin Mohammed Al Aiban, Minister of Commerce, Acting Minister of Information Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki.

From the Pakistani side, the session was attended by Foreign Minister Mr. Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Interior Minister Mr. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Secretary to the Foreign Minister Sohail Mahmood, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Affairs Amin Aslam, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Kingdom General Bilal Akbar. After the talks, the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of Pakistan signed an agreement to establish the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council.

The Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of Pakistan witnessed the signing of two agreements and two bilateral memoranda of understanding between the Kingdom and Pakistan as follows:

Agreement on cooperation in the field of convicted persons serving sentences of deprivation of liberty, and a cooperation agreement in the field of crime prevention, signed by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, Minister of Interior, on the Saudi side, and by Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on the Pakistani side.

Memorandum of Understanding in the field of combating illicit trafficking in drugs, psychotropic substances, and chemical precursors, signed by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, Minister of Interior, on the Saudi side, and by Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the Pakistani side.

Framework Memorandum of Understanding for financing qualified projects in the fields of energy, infrastructure, transportation, water, and communications between the Saudi Fund for Development and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, signed by Saudi Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development Ahmed Al-Khatib on the Saudi side, and by Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the Pakistani side.
