Sheikh Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister, submitted the resignation of the Kuwaiti government to the country’s Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, one day after the announcement of the National Assembly election results.

According to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), in a post on its official “X” platform, it stated, “By Article 57 of the Constitution, the resignation of the government led by Sheikh Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, was submitted to His Highness the Amir of the country, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.”

The agency added that “the Prime Minister expressed his sincere appreciation and pride to the Amir of the country for the precious trust and generous support, commending the sincere efforts made by the ministers throughout their tenure of responsibilities.”

Earlier on Saturday, the Kuwaiti Cabinet, during its extraordinary meeting, approved a draft decree inviting the National Assembly to convene for the first ordinary session of the eighteenth legislative term on Wednesday, April 17th, and then submitted it to the Kuwaiti Amir, according to KUNA.

This decision came one day after the announcement of the results of the Kuwaiti National Assembly elections for the 2024 legislative term, covering the five electoral districts, following the parliamentary elections held on Thursday.
