The Sudanese army has initiated an operation to reclaim control over Gezira State, south of the capital Khartoum, through five fronts.

According to reports from Sudanese media outlets, the army has successfully regained control of the Umm Al-Qura locality in eastern Gezira State from the Rapid Support Forces militia, which seized the neighboring state bordering Khartoum last December.

This military operation is considered one of the largest ground operations witnessed in the ongoing war since April 15.

It has been confirmed that military operations are active on all fronts as part of a plan overseen by the Sudanese Sovereignty Council President and Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.

Sources revealed that the armed forces have destroyed several combat vehicles using airstrikes, drones, and tanks.

Informed sources estimate that the current force tasked with regaining control of Gezira consists of about 40,000 fighters equipped with various types of weapons, supported by drones and military aircraft.
