Polish and allied aircraft were activated early on Friday after Russia launched missile strikes on Ukraine, according to the Operational Command of the Polish armed forces.

“Polish and allied aircraft are operating in Polish airspace, which may result in increased noise levels, especially in the southeastern part of the country,” the Command said on the social media platform X.

Ukraine’s Air Force Commander announced on Friday that Ukrainian forces successfully neutralized 58 Russian attack drones and 26 cruise missiles the previous night. ”

On the night of March 29, 2024, the enemy launched a significant missile and aerial attack targeting Ukraine’s fuel and energy sector, utilizing various types of missiles and attack drones,” he stated.

This southeastern region of Poland is adjacent to the Ukrainian border.

This week, Poland’s border forces announced that the country has received around 43,600 refugees from Ukraine over the past two days.

According to Poland’s English-language radio, more than 43,000 Ukrainian refugees departed Poland on Monday and Tuesday, returning to their homeland.

Since the start of the war between Ukraine and Russia in February 2022, Warsaw has welcomed over 19 million Ukrainian refugees, with nearly 17 million of them returning home since then.

The Ukrainian military announced on Thursday that the number of Russian soldiers killed has escalated to 439,970 since the onset of Russia’s military operation, with 440 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours alone.

According to Ukraine’s Ukrinform news agency, citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia has also suffered substantial losses in military hardware during this period, including 6,914 tanks, 13,237 armoured vehicles, 10,963 artillery systems, 1,021 multiple launch rocket systems, 729 air defence systems, 347 fighter jets, 325 helicopters, 26 warships, in addition to 1,800 pieces of special equipment, 8,590 drones, one submarine, and 14,595 vehicles and fuel tanks.
