A bus accident near Leipzig in eastern Germany resulted in five fatalities and over a dozen injuries on Wednesday morning, according to police statements to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

The police statement indicated that the bus veered off course and overturned, causing injuries to more than twelve passengers.

German company “FlixBus,” which operates the bus, informed AFP that the bus, traveling from Berlin to Zurich, Switzerland, was carrying 53 passengers and drivers.

In an email to AFP, the company stated that the exact circumstances of the accident were still unclear, confirming cooperation with authorities and emergency services.
