The Ukrainian air defence systems destroyed 17 of 22 drones launched by Russia during the night, the Ukrainian Air Force announced on Monday.

The Air Force wrote on the Telegram application that in addition to the drone attack, Russia also fired 7 missiles at Ukraine.

It is not yet clear what happened to the missiles or drones that were not destroyed.

Vladimir Rogov, the local official appointed by Russia in the Zaporizhzhia region, said on Sunday that two Ukrainian drones attacked a polling centre in the Russian-controlled part of the Zaporizhzhia region in Ukraine.

Rogov added that the attack caused the building to catch fire but did not result in any injuries, according to Reuters.

The Russian presidential elections entered their third and final day on Sunday, with polling stations closing on Saturday, with a voter turnout exceeding 58%, despite attempts to disrupt the voting with Ukrainian military attacks on some areas, according to Al-Qahira Al-Akhbariya.

The Central Election Commission in the Russian Federation announced that voter turnout had reached 60% at the beginning of its third day.

Vladimir Putin has secured victory in the Russian presidential elections, garnering at least 87% of the votes, according to expectations following the closure of polling stations.

Putin, aged 71, emerged as the winner of the elections, securing a fifth presidential term on Sunday, based on numerous voter opinion polls.

No genuine opposition candidate was allowed to contest in the elections, which were conducted over three days, and international observers did not monitor the elections, held across the vast expanse of Russia spanning 11 time zones.

The voting process for Putin’s fifth term in office witnessed multiple protests, with preliminary results expected to be announced later on Sunday evening. The first genuine election results will be available tomorrow, Monday.
