In the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, the Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has reached 31,553, according to a statement released by the Hamas-run Health Ministry on Saturday.
Over the past 24 hours, the Israeli army has reported the deaths of 63 Palestinians and injuries to 112 others, pushing the total death toll to 31,553 and injuries to 73,546 since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict, the ministry disclosed.
Simultaneously, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has called for urgent international humanitarian intervention through a binding resolution in the UN Security Council to compel Israel to cease its attacks in Gaza. They emphasize the necessity of ensuring civilian safety and the sustainable delivery of aid.
In a press release, the foreign ministry underscored Israel’s persistent threats to invade Rafah without presenting a viable plan to protect civilians and address their essential humanitarian needs.
The recent escalation follows Israel’s large-scale offensive against Hamas in response to a Hamas incursion across the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, resulting in approximately 1,200 deaths and over 200 individuals being taken hostage.
