In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the 13th group of Palestinian children, including those injured and cancer patients from Gaza, arrived in the UAE early Saturday.
The flight from El Arish Airport in Egypt landed at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport, carrying 98 individuals, including 40 children in urgent need of medical assistance due to severe injuries and burns, and cancer patients requiring intensive treatment. Accompanying them were 58 family members.
With the arrival of this new batch, the total number of patients received by UAE hospitals has reached 1,154, including 585 injured children and cancer patients, in addition to 569 accompanying individuals.
This initiative is part of the UAE’s ongoing efforts at various levels to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza and enhance the response to the worsening humanitarian situation in the region, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Dr. Maha Barakat, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Medical and Life Sciences Affairs, emphasized that the UAE is committed to easing the humanitarian suffering experienced by Palestinian brothers and sisters in Gaza.
She highlighted the leadership’s directives to provide comprehensive support in healthcare, including the establishment of field hospitals in Gaza and a floating hospital in El Arish, Egypt, as well as supplying Gaza hospitals with ambulances, medical devices, drugs, and medical supplies.
She praised the efforts of medical teams and volunteers treating Palestinian patients in field hospitals in Gaza and El Arish, as well as the UAE hospitals receiving the injured and cancer patients.
Barakat commended the professionalism and dedication of all involved in providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people during these challenging times.
Noura Khamees Al Ghaithi, Deputy Director of Abu Dhabi Health Department, stated that the UAE continues its humanitarian role based on the principles of giving, tolerance, and charity. She affirmed the readiness of the healthcare sector in the UAE to receive and treat cases in line with the leadership’s directives.
She noted the improvement in the health condition of patients currently receiving treatment in medical facilities. These facilities spare no effort in providing the best treatment and support, including mental health services, to Palestinian recipients of healthcare.
Mubarak Al Qahtani, the official spokesman for the UAE’s Humanitarian City, mentioned that facilities in the city have been allocated for cases not requiring hospital stays, ensuring the highest standards of security and safety to provide maximum comfort to the guests of the UAE.
