Former President Donald Trump responded to his longtime rival President Joe Biden after the latter criticized him regarding Ukraine, accusing Trump of “bending” to Russian President Vladimir Putin. This response came during Trump’s annual speech on the state of the union.

Minutes after concluding his speech, Trump took to his Truth Social platform and replied to Biden, stating, “You can’t stand up to Putin; you gave him Ukraine.” Trump further elaborated, saying, “He accused me of bowing to the Russian leader. I gave them everything, including Ukraine. I gave them Nord Stream 2, and I gave it to them! He was Putin’s puppet, and every other leader almost!”

Trump also labeled Biden’s speech as the “worst union address ever,” adding, “This may be the angriest and least merciful speech about the state of the union ever. It was an embarrassment to our country!”
Regarding Iran, the former president commented, “Iran became rich, and that’s why we have problems in the Middle East. With me, Iran was broke. That’s why the Middle East exploded!”

During his address to Congress, President Biden asserted that Russian President Putin would not prevail in Ukraine, accusing his rival in the presidential elections, Trump, of “bowing” to Putin. Biden stated before both houses of Congress that “My predecessor, the Republican President, tells Putin: Do whatever the hell you want.” He added, “I won’t bow,” and “History watches with all the meaning of the word.”

President Biden emphasized that his administration would not send American troops to Ukraine, indicating that the United States is working towards achieving peace and remains the main supporter of NATO.

Biden stressed the necessity for both parties to confront Putin and continue supporting Ukraine. In his annual State of the Union address before Congress, he urged for the approval of aid to Ukraine to “stop” Russian President Putin.

President Biden also warned that “Russia’s Putin is moving forward, invading Ukraine, and sowing chaos throughout Europe and beyond.” He continued, “If anyone in this room thinks Putin will stop at Ukraine, I assure you he won’t.”

President Biden delivered the State of the Union address at a crucial stage in the political career of the 81-year-old Democrat, as he seeks to convince undecided voters of his ability to defeat Republican Donald Trump in the likely showdown between them in the presidential elections in November.
