The Board of Directors of the King Salman Park Foundation announced the completion of the construction work for the “Abi Bakr Al Siddiq Road” tunnel project, aimed at enhancing traffic flow in Riyadh.

The “Abi Bakr Al Siddiq Road” tunnel project marks the first in a series of bridge and tunnel projects to be completed, with construction work commencing in the third quarter of 2021 as part of the construction activities for the “King Salman Park” project, initiated by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on March 19, 2019.

Featuring a modern design that harmonizes with the local environment and sustainable materials, the 2,430-meter-long tunnel includes three vehicle lanes in each direction and an additional lane for emergencies.

The tunnel is equipped with advanced traffic management systems, state-of-the-art safety measures, and evacuation procedures.

Opened on February 29, 2024, the tunnel will provide three lanes in each direction plus an emergency lane, equipped with modern traffic management and safety systems, including emergency services and evacuation routes.

The design of the Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Road Tunnel reflects the Salmani architectural concept, blending with Riyadh’s natural and geological features, and incorporates sustainable materials and designs that resonate with the local environment.
