In his first comment on the military rebellion declared by Wagner Group commander Yevgeny Prigozhin, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that the response to any rebellion will be strict, decisive, and harsh.

During a televised speech broadcasted on the country’s official channels last Saturday, Putin described these actions as a betrayal and a stab in the back, further highlighting that Wagner Group members have been led into an armed rebellion.

In a resolute tone, the Russian President emphasized that anyone who takes up arms against the army is a traitor. He stated, “Our response to these threats will be strict and severe for those who have betrayed.” Putin regarded the organizers of the rebellion as betrayers of Russia and emphasized that they will face severe punishment.

Furthermore, Putin affirmed that the army will defend the state and its citizens against all threats, including “traitors from within,” as he referred to Prigozhin.

Israel Confirms Progress on Talks for Hostage Deal Although there has been progress, the report emphasizes that no significant breakthroughs have been achieved thus far. The negotiation efforts are being conducted concurrently by Egypt and Qatar, with Israel expressing optimism that a successful outcome may emerge from either of the two channels. The report suggests that the completion of such a deal will require some time, but notes that expedited progress could occur if Hamas demonstrates increased flexibility. Anticipating further developments, the War Cabinet is slated to convene on Sunday to deliberate on the prospect of a prisoner exchange. Additionally, the meeting will address considerations regarding the post-war scenario. Kan 11 News reports that the War Cabinet has granted Mossad chief David Barnea the approval to proceed with the Qatari proposal. This proposal entails the release of numerous hostages in exchange for a substantial hiatus from hostilities, although not a permanent ceasefire.
