Vusimuzi Madonsela, South Africa’s representative at the International Court of Justice, stated that the Israeli occupation enforces an apartheid regime against the Palestinian people and continues to violate international laws through its ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

In his plea to the court, Madonsela emphasized the necessity of dismantling all Israeli settlements and implementing a two-state solution, asserting that the Israeli occupation has perpetrated genocide against the Palestinian people.

He highlighted that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is the only solution to foster peace in the Middle East. Madonsela called for an end to the apartheid policy used by the occupation against Palestinians and stressed the importance of holding Israeli perpetrators of crimes accountable.

Madonsela underscored the need for Palestinians to exercise their right to self-determination, noting that Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem are confined behind an apartheid wall, and Israel’s actions only exacerbate the Palestinians’ plight.

A member of South Africa’s defense team at the International Court of Justice pointed out that Israel has increased the number of settlers in the West Bank in violation of international laws, committing clear breaches of international and humanitarian laws.
