President Evariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi has expressed his dedication to maintaining and enhancing communication and coordination with Egypt to bolster mutual interests.

This statement was made during the credential presentation by Egypt’s Ambassador to Burundi, Amira Abdel Rahim, to President Ndayishimiye.

President Ndayishimiye conveyed his pride in the relations between the two nations and extended his greetings to his “brother,” President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt. He also reflected positively on his previous visit to Egypt, which he described as a “blessed land.”

According to an announcement made by Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its official Facebook page, Ambassador Amira Abdel Rahim reiterated the strong ties between Egypt and Burundi.

She expressed eagerness to collaborate with Burundian officials to further common interests and emphasized her focus on ongoing coordination and cooperation on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Abdel Rahim also highlighted the importance of reciprocal support between the two countries in regional and international forums.

Egypt recently achieved another milestone in its series of successes on the African stage by being elected as a member of the African Union’s Peace and Security Council for the term 2024-2026.

Garnering an impressive 44 votes out of a possible 46 from the voting members of the African Union, Egypt’s election to the council represents a significant vote of confidence from its African counterparts in its capabilities to contribute effectively to this vital area of concern.

This widespread support reflects the trust that fellow African nations place in Egypt’s ability to play a constructive role in the Peace and Security Council, a trust that has been reinforced by Egypt’s proactive and impactful participation in the council in previous terms, including the most recent one during 2020-2022.
