During a meeting in Dubai with the Head of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that the Government of National Unity is the sole legitimate government recognized by the international community.
Erdogan expressed his willingness to support dialogue leading to Libya’s stability and a direct path to elections without further transitional phases.
The discussions also covered the situation in Libya’s neighboring countries, with both nations aiming to foster calm and stability.
They pledged to support international efforts to conclude Libya’s transitional periods by holding elections and exploring avenues for economic cooperation.
Furthermore, both sides agreed to back efforts to halt the aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the area, and unify the Islamic stance on this issue.
Earlier this week, Tunisian President Kais Saied reiterated his country’s support for the unity of the Libyan state, stressing that any foreign intervention in Libyan affairs would only complicate the situation.
President Saied made the remarks during a meeting with Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar to discuss the results of Tunisia’s participation in the African Union High-Level Committee meeting on Libya.
He noted that some conferences held without representatives of the Libyan people failed to reach any resolution.
