During the 172nd General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in Paris, the Saudi delegation unveiled the Kingdom’s candidacy proposal to host Expo 2030 in Riyadh. The proposal, titled “Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow,” emphasises technology, innovation, sustainability, and global cooperation.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, addressed the General Assembly and highlighted the significance of Expo 2030 as an opportunity to collaborate on projects with a global impact and find innovative solutions to common challenges. He stressed the importance of inclusivity and sustainability in achieving these goals.

Minister of Investment Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih revealed that the budget allocated for the exhibition amounts to $7.8 billion.

This substantial investment aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader plans outlined in Vision 2030, which aims to attract national-level investments exceeding $3.3 trillion by the end of the decade, with a focus on allocating at least 30% to the city of Riyadh.

Eng. Khalid further emphasised the Kingdom’s existing international business network, with over 25,000 international companies and more than 8 million employees from over 130 countries. He expressed confidence in attracting additional participants to join the Expo project.

The candidacy proposal for Expo 2030 showcases Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fostering innovation, sustainability, and global cooperation, and the significant budget allocation underscores the Kingdom’s determination to create a world-class event in Riyadh.
