As of Sunday, Iran has unilaterally canceled entry visas for Qatari nationals, marking a significant step towards fostering cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the realm of tourism. Iran’s Ambassador to Doha, Ali Salehabadi, announced this move, emphasizing its importance in strengthening ties and encouraging greater collaboration.

Salehabadi highlighted the numerous commonalities and economic bonds shared between Iran and Qatar, underlining that increased cooperation would serve the national interests of both countries. The cancelation of visas aligns with the broader efforts to deepen economic and diplomatic relations.

The development follows the signing of 14 major economic cooperation agreements during Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi’s visit to Doha in February. Among these agreements was a deal specifically focused on canceling visa requirements for travelers between Iran and Qatar.

Deputy Foreign Minister Alireza Bigdeli previously stated that Iran would extend the visa waiver to tourists from 28 countries, allowing them to travel to Iran without the need for a visa. This initiative, effective from February 4, aims to facilitate tourism and enhance international relations by simplifying the entry process for citizens of the specified countries.
