In a recent announcement, the World Health Organization (WHO) revealed that over 100,000 residents of Gaza have been either injured, gone missing, or lost their lives amidst the deteriorating situation in the region. This figure accounts for 4.3% of Gaza’s total population, which stands at 2.3 million people, according to the German news agency.

During a weekly press conference held via video from Jerusalem, Richard Pepperkorn, the WHO representative for the occupied Palestinian territories, expressed deep concern about the dire conditions faced by the remaining population. They struggle daily to secure their basic needs, including safety, food, healthcare, and warmth.

Pepperkorn highlighted a rise in hostilities in central Gaza, exacerbating the challenges of accessing existing healthcare facilities. He voiced deep concern over the inability to reach hospitals for patients and healthcare workers alike.

Out of a total of 36 hospitals in Gaza, only 13 are partially operational. Similarly, out of 73 primary healthcare centers, only 13 are currently functioning.

The health crisis in Gaza continues to escalate, leaving a significant portion of the population vulnerable and in need of urgent assistance. As international efforts continue to address this crisis, the situation remains critical for the people of Gaza.
