The house in Bellevue, Washington, where Jeff Bezos initiated Amazon, is up for sale with a $2.3 million asking price, according to media outlets.
This residence holds a significant place in Amazon’s origins, as Bezos launched what was initially an online bookstore from its garage in 1994.
The address of this historic site is 10704 NE 28th Street, Bellevue, Washington, where Bezos, at the age of 30, embarked on the Amazon journey.
Constructed in 1954 and later renovated in 2001, the house spans 1,540 square feet, as per its Zillow listing. Bezos, along with his former spouse, MacKenzie Scott, rented this house when they relocated to Washington, with a reported monthly rent of $890, as stated by The Wall Street Journal in 2011.
The choice of this house was strategic for Bezos, who aimed to mirror the Silicon Valley narrative of starting a tech giant from a garage.
The property has changed hands several times, selling for $182,000 in 1998, $375,000 in 2005, $620,000 in 2009, and most recently for $1.53 million in 2019. It was listed for sale at approximately $2.3 million on January 18.
While modest in comparison to Bezos’ subsequent homes, this Bellevue house is a cornerstone in the narrative of Bezos’ ascent to a fortune valued at around $183 billion.
Amazon, Google, and Microsoft recently announced plans to increase their presence in Saudi Arabia, responding to government pressure.
These three American companies have secured licenses to establish regional headquarters in Riyadh, as indicated by a government database. The approvals were obtained just before the Saudi government’s January 1 deadline.
There has been a surge in efforts by large companies to set up local headquarters towards the year’s end. Other corporations that have recently been licensed include Airbus SE, Oracle Corp., and Pfizer Inc.
