France has acknowledged and thanked Egypt for its role in the smooth evacuation of seven injured Palestinian children from Gaza to French medical facilities.

This gratitude was conveyed in a joint statement by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Labor, Health, and Solidarity.

The statement highlighted France’s deep concern regarding the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza, emphasizing the acute need for essential supplies like food, water, and medical aid. The prolonged health and food crisis has severely impacted the civilian population there.

Additionally, the statement reiterated the appeal made by Stéphane Séjourné, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

In his address to the United Nations Security Council on January 23, Séjourné called for immediate steps to establish a lasting ceasefire, presenting it as a crucial measure to relieve the suffering of the Gazan civilians.

This evacuation marks the second occasion France has facilitated such a humanitarian gesture, following the arrival of two Palestinian children in the country on December 28.

Italy’s Defense Minister Guido Crosetto announced on Wednesday that Italy would provide medical treatment for 100 Palestinian children from Gaza in its hospitals.

This humanitarian operation will commence in the coming days, involving the transportation of these children via airplanes and ships.

The first group of 30 children will be flown in from Egypt, where they sought medical assistance after escaping the Israeli bombardment in Gaza.

An additional 30 children, along with their families, will arrive in Italy at the end of January aboard the military ship “Vulcano,” departing from the Egyptian port of El-Arish.
