The General Secretariat of the Saudi National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science revealed the Kingdom’s formal bid to host the 15th General Conference of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in 2025.

ICESCO, an entity operating under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and dedicated to education in Islamic nations, will consider the Kingdom’s proposal.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia submitted a request to grant scholarships to 200 outstanding students enrolled in Saudi universities from across the Islamic world, with the scholarship program slated to commence in the upcoming academic year.

This significant announcement was made during the 44th session of the ICESCO Executive Council, a gathering hosted by Saudi Arabia and represented by the Saudi commission. The session concluded on Wednesday in Jeddah, where a ceremony marked the occasion, attended by Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, the governor of the city.

Secretary-General Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Bulaihad, delivering the opening speech at the ceremony, underscored the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing education on a global scale.

He highlighted the keen interest of Saudi leaders in supporting the mission of ICESCO, emphasizing the pivotal role of education in fostering international collaboration and understanding.
