In a significant development, the Slovenian Medical Workers’ Union announced a strike following unsuccessful negotiations with the government over salary improvements.

The decision to strike was made public on Tuesday, indicating a deepening crisis in the country’s healthcare system.

Euro News reported that the union declared an indefinite strike after initial talks with the government failed. This decision comes in the wake of a one-day limited strike organized by the doctors. The ongoing strike will continue until a satisfactory agreement regarding salaries is reached.

It is noteworthy that the salaries of medical professionals in Slovenia are among the lowest in the European Union. This disparity has been a longstanding issue, causing dissatisfaction and unrest among healthcare workers.

The strike highlights the growing concern over fair compensation for medical professionals in Slovenia, reflecting a broader challenge within the EU to ensure equitable pay for essential workers.
