A fire broke out at a gas station in Tabuk, northwestern Saudi Arabia, resulting in one fatality and several injuries.

The General Directorate of Civil Defense reported that their teams successfully extinguished the fire following a sudden ignition at the gas station.

The Directorate added that the fire caused medium injuries, one fatality, and material damage.

A video captured the moment of a powerful explosion that shook the gas station, while other footage showed the damage caused by the explosion.

Recent explosions in Saudi Arabia have predominantly been attributed to missile and drone attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, targeting key infrastructure and facilities. Notable incidents include an explosion in Riyadh in January 2021, reported by witnesses and media, and attacks on Saudi Aramco facilities. The Aramco oil storage and shipping facility in Jeddah was a significant target, suffering an attack in March 2022 that caused substantial fires and damage, halting flights and affecting major events like the Formula One Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia.

These attacks have been part of the ongoing conflict in Yemen, where Saudi Arabia intervened in 2015 to support the country’s government against the Iran-backed Houthis. The Houthis have claimed responsibility for several of these attacks, targeting oil and civilian infrastructure as a part of their campaign.

The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen has launched military operations in response to these attacks, aiming to protect global energy sources and ensure supply chains. The situation has led to heightened security and defensive measures within Saudi Arabia, especially concerning critical infrastructure like oil facilities. The US State Department has condemned the attacks and pledged to help Saudi Arabia bolster its defenses. These developments reflect the broader regional conflict and its impact on the security and stability of critical infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
