EgyptAir has confirmed its intention to operate direct flights to the city of Misrata starting January 25th.
Yahia Zakaria, the Chairman of the company’s board of directors, announced that the new route will include one weekly flight every Thursday.
Misrata will become the third destination in Libya for EgyptAir, following its existing flights to Benina International Airport in Benghazi and Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli, as reported by the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram.
Zakaria explained that the company’s flight, numbered “MS827,” will depart from Cairo International Airport at 12:15 PM, arriving in Misrata at 3:15 PM local time in Libya.
He further mentioned that there will be special discounts for the first four flights on the new route, with a 50% discount for the first flight and 25% for the subsequent three flights, provided that tickets are purchased by January 20th.
The goal is to implement the ambitious plan of expanding the company’s network in the African continent, reaching several vital points.
The Chairman of EgyptAir emphasized the importance of the new route in serving Egyptian residents and workers in Libyan territories, as well as enhancing trade and economic exchange between the two countries, promoting increased movement between them.
With the addition of Misrata to EgyptAir’s route network, the company will operate 15 weekly flights to Libya, consisting of seven flights to Benghazi, seven flights to Tripoli, and one flight to Misrata.
On October 26th of last year, Misrata Airport welcomed the first cargo flights operated by EgyptAir. Prior to that, the airline had inaugurated its first indirect flights to Misrata in August, marking a resumption of service after an interruption lasting over eight years.
