Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein met with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at Istana Palace, expressing Jordan’s eagerness to strengthen its partnership with Singapore. During the meeting, Crown Prince Hussein conveyed greetings and congratulations from King Abdullah of Jordan to President Shanmugaratnam on his election win last year.
The Crown Prince emphasized Jordan’s commitment to closer collaboration with Singapore and the desire to enhance the deep-rooted strategic relations between the two nations, based on shared values. He commended the expanding ties between Jordan and Singapore over the past decades, expressing pride in the level of cooperation in various fields.
The significance of the agreements signed between the two countries on Thursday, covering a range of mutual interests, was highlighted by the Crown Prince. He also praised Singapore’s model in progress, modernization, and human resource development.
President Shanmugaratnam acknowledged the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and Singapore, appreciating the exchange of high-level visits. The meeting covered developments in the Middle East, with the Crown Prince emphasizing Jordan’s dedication to peace and security in the region despite the challenges.
The Crown Prince expressed gratitude for Singapore’s humanitarian response in Gaza and its contributions to UNRWA amid the ongoing crisis. He reiterated Jordan’s belief in the importance of addressing the Palestinian-Israeli conflict for regional stability and peace. The need for coordination with Singapore and other partners to counter violence in the region and promote interfaith dialogue was also highlighted.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh, Planning Minister Zeina Toukan, Jordan’s Ambassador to Singapore Samer Naber, and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain, along with several ministers and senior officials from the Singaporean side.
