The Libyan Ministry of Labor and Rehabilitation announced on Monday that it had detected over 45,000 cases of dual employment in the country in 2023.

The ministry published the results of its inspections on its Facebook page. The inspections covered 338,962 files from 206 offices in the public sector, companies, and the private sector.

The ministry said that 22,675 employees had submitted requests to resolve the issue of dual employment, while 19,124 employees had been suspended. It added that all resignations had been referred to the Ministry of Finance.

The ministry said that it had visited 1,902 worksites in different municipalities.
In June, Minister of Labor Ali Al-Abed announced the launch of a large-scale inspection campaign to crack down on dual employment between the public and private sectors. The campaign is being carried out under the slogan “Enforcement of the law and the return of life to the labor market.”
