In a significant move to address the growing demand for improved access to fuel and its derivatives in the southern region, the Government of National Unity (GNU) in Libya announced a strategic partnership with Brega Company on Thursday. The collaboration aims to enhance fuel supply to the Sabha depot.

The decision was a result of a crucial meeting led by Badr al-Din al-Toumi, the Minister of Local Governance, who convened mayors from southern municipalities. The meeting’s central focus was to evaluate the situation in Ubari, following the shutdown of the Sharara oil field by protesters.

The ministry’s media office reported that discussions at the meeting delved into the root causes of the protests leading to the closure of the oil field, a vital contributor to the nation’s revenue.

Al-Toumi asserted an increase in fuel supply destined for Sabha, highlighting the pivotal role of constructive dialogue in aligning the protesters’ demands with public interest and ensuring uninterrupted oil production.

He also emphasized the government’s dedication to thoroughly reviewing the protesters’ requests and outlined plans to implement measures aimed at promoting sustainable development and ensuring the delivery of essential services to the residents of the region.
