Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has called on his country’s allies to provide Ukraine with long-range missiles to help Kyiv target “launch sites and command centers” amid a new wave of Russian attacks, according to the French news agency.
Russian missile strikes targeted residential buildings in Kyiv and the city of Kharkiv (northeast) yesterday (Tuesday), resulting in five deaths and dozens of injuries.
Sikorski stated on social media today that the West should respond “in a language understood by (Russian President Vladimir) Putin.”
He urged allies to supply Kyiv with “long-range missiles that will enable them to destroy missile launch sites and command centers.”
Poland is one of Ukraine’s key allies, with Warsaw expressing political support for the neighboring country since the Russian invasion began in February 2022.
Sikorski stressed that the response to Russian shelling in Ukraine should include “tightening” Western sanctions on Moscow to prevent it from “manufacturing new weapons using smuggled components.”
Sikorski, who was appointed Foreign Minister in December as part of the pro-European Union government, chose Ukraine as his first foreign destination, stating that the West should “mobilize” its economy to support Ukraine.
