The European Investment Bank (EIB) has earmarked €400 million to support investments in renewable energy production across Greece and European Union (EU) member states.
According to an EIB statement, a new set of photovoltaic solar energy projects and battery storage systems will be rolled out by 2027, adding about 2.6 gigawatts of capacity at a total cost of €2.5 billion.
These projects will be implemented throughout the EU.
The EIB noted that the new projects will be located in various less developed and transitional regions throughout Greece and the EU.
Therefore, the financing from the European Investment Bank will support new investments in cohesion areas, where per capita income is lower than the EU average, emphasizing a commitment to fair growth and converging living standards.
