At least ten people were killed, and 45 others sustained injuries in a Ukrainian attack on the Russian city of Belgorod, near the border, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The Ministry, via the Telegram application, stated, “Nine adults and one child were killed in Belgorod due to shelling by the Ukrainian army,” and further noted that 45 others were injured, including four children.
Images released by the authorities showed cars engulfed in flames and buildings with shattered windows, depicting the aftermath of the attack.
Earlier reports had indicated three fatalities in Belgorod, according to Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region.
In the neighboring Bryansk region, close to Ukraine, the villages of Kyster and Portchievo were subjected to shelling, resulting in the death of a child born in 2014, according to their governor, Alexander Bogomaz.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of a total of 32 Ukrainian drones in the Bryansk, Kursk, and Oryol regions, north of the border with Ukraine, as well as in the Moscow region.
Belgorod is located approximately 80 kilometers north of the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.
