Russia and Arab countries have rejected a military solution in Libya and expressed support for the country’s unity and sovereignty, calling for parliamentary and presidential elections in the country as soon as possible.

The joint statement issued by the sixth Arab-Russian Cooperation Forum in Marrakech, Morocco, on Wednesday, said that Russia and Arab countries reaffirmed their commitment to Libya’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and rejected foreign interference in the country’s affairs.

Russia and Arab countries also rejected a military solution in Libya and expressed their support for the comprehensive national reconciliation under the auspices of the Libyan Presidential Council.

Russia and Arab countries called for parliamentary and presidential elections in Libya as soon as possible.

Participants in the forum also called for the withdrawal of all foreign forces, fighters, and foreign mercenaries from Libya.

They praised the efforts of the 5+5 committee to strengthen the ceasefire regime, and called for the unification of the security agencies and military institutions under the management of a single executive authority.
