Lithuania has announced the successful repair of the first Leopard 2 tanks that were delivered to Ukraine and sustained damage during the conflict with Russia.

These tanks will soon return to the battlefield, according to the German news agency.

Lithuania’s Minister of Defense, Arvydas Anušauskas, expressed Lithuania’s continuous support for Ukraine’s fight for independence, stating that Lithuania not only provides military aid but also assists in repairing Leopard tanks.

The Leopard 2 tanks were repaired at a maintenance center for combat vehicles in Lithuania.

After the repairs, the tanks underwent testing in Lithuania’s training area in Gaižiūnai. It is expected that they will be transported back to Ukraine in early January.

In addition to repairing tanks, Lithuania has sent several million rounds of ammunition and thousands of short-range anti-tank-guided missile systems to Ukraine for defense against Russia.

Minister of Defense Anušauskas emphasized their commitment to responding to Ukraine’s urgent requests and encouraged their allies to do the same.

Lithuania stands as one of the major supporters of Ukraine during these challenging times.

Ukraine continues to defend its territory against a comprehensive Russian invasion that began in February 2022.

The country heavily relies on Western support to acquire military equipment, with Lithuania being one of its significant supporters in this regard.
