Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and President of COP28, said that the conference has been exceptional and has already helped to shape the history of the world and COP conferences.
In a press conference held on Friday in the Blue Zone of COP28, Al Jaber said that by working together, we have created unprecedented momentum for global climate action. He noted that the conference reached an agreement on the first day on the International Climate Fund and is confident that it can do so again.
Al Jaber added that in the coming days, we have the power together to achieve a radical transformation that will contribute to reshaping the global economy, shaping our common future, and placing the countries, communities, and individuals most vulnerable to the effects of climate change at the heart of climate action and at the top of its priorities.
Al Jaber continued: “As a result of your joint efforts, COP28 has achieved tangible success and sent a clear message that we are all capable of making a positive change, regardless of our capabilities and circumstances.” He added: “Let us build on this success to achieve an unprecedented outcome in the global stocktake decision and in all other tasks.”
Al Jaber said: “Through our joint work, we have succeeded in surprising the skeptics and inspiring the optimists. Our commitment to working together will help us protect our planet. We are confident that our continued work in the spirit of consensus-based work will push us forward.”
Al Jaber concluded: “Let us work together to consolidate the position of COP28 as the conference of the parties that, through uniting efforts and collective work, succeeded in achieving the radical transformation required in the course of global climate action.”
