Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Algeria for its balanced political approach, highlighting the steady and positive pace of Russian-Algerian cooperation.

During a ceremony to accept credentials from several new ambassadors, including the Algerian envoy, Putin emphasized the thriving nature of this bilateral relationship.

According to Russia’s “RT Arabic” channel, Putin stated, “Russian-Algerian trade and economic cooperation are advancing at a good pace. The trade volume has exceeded two billion dollars. Humanitarian relations are continuously expanding. We value the balanced foreign policy course of the Algerian leadership.”

Putin also noted that Algeria is set to gain a non-permanent seat on the United Nations (UN) Security Council between 2024 and 2025. He added, “Of course, we will intensify coordination with our Algerian partners on current issues in both the international and regional arenas.”

In addition, the Deputy Director of Russia’s Agricultural Export Development Center under the Ministry of Agriculture, Andrei Kochirov, confirmed that Russia has more than doubled its agricultural exports to Algeria in a year.

Kochirov remarked, “Russia is one of the top five exporters of agricultural products to Algeria. The value of Russia’s agricultural and industrial exports to Algeria reached about $336 million by the end of 2021, and this figure rose to $699 million by the end of 2022.”

These statements underscore the growing economic ties between Russia and Algeria, particularly in the agricultural sector, reflecting the deepening partnership and shared interests in expanding bilateral trade and cooperation.
