Olusẹgun Ọbasanjọ, the Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), and former President of Nigeria, has officially handed over the hosting of the fourth edition of the IATF, known as the 2025 IATF, to Algeria.

Egypt, the current host country, passed the torch to Algeria during the ongoing event.

Abdelaziz Ben Ali Cherif, the Algerian Ambassador to Cairo, accepted the hosting duties for the fourth edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair in 2025.

Egypt is hosting the third edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair, the 2023 IATF, for the second time. The event spans seven days and is set to conclude on Wednesday, with the participation of around 71 countries and 16,000 exhibitors from various nations.

The fair is expected to witness the signing of financing agreements totaling around $43 billion.

Egypt previously hosted the inaugural edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair in 2018, while South Africa hosted the second edition in 2021. Both editions saw the signing of agreements worth $75 billion.

Benedict Oramah, the President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), remarked in his speech that Egypt’s ability to quickly host the third edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair in 2023 is clear evidence of the robust infrastructure built by Egypt in a relatively short period.

This achievement, he noted, is attributed to the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and demonstrates the flexibility of the Egyptian economy.

Abidjan, the capital of Côte d’Ivoire, had initially planned to host the 2023 IATF but later withdrew due to incomplete preparations.
