Egypt Approves UN Team Deployment in Al-Arish for Gaza Aid

The United Nations announced that Egypt has consented to the deployment of a UN technical team in Al-Arish to advise on delivering aid to Gaza amid ongoing conflict. The UN spokesperson stated Tuesday evening that the team will assist the Egyptian Red Crescent in logistical support for aid delivery to the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Red Crescent has received 81 trucks of supplies through the Rafah Crossing, loaded with food, water, relief items, medical supplies, and medication. Since October 21, a total of 650 trucks have been delivered, averaging about 36 trucks daily. However, Israel has not yet permitted fuel entry into the sector.

Mohammed Abu Mubasher, spokesperson for the Palestinian Red Crescent, expressed to Al-Arabiya.net the critical need for fuel to operate hospitals and treat the wounded.

The Israeli restrictions have made it impossible to obtain the necessary fuel, posing a significant challenge in transferring the wounded out of Gaza for treatment due to the shortage of medical supplies and the difficulty of performing surgeries locally.

Abu Mubasher called for unrestricted, unconditional safe humanitarian corridors for medical and food aid to reach hospitals and displaced persons.

Meanwhile, Egypt continues its efforts to facilitate the delivery of assistance, with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussing with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and the blatant human rights violations, urging international efforts to intensify for a ceasefire and the facilitation of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
