A Russian company specializing in transportation through smart applications, “Yango,” has decided to enter the Moroccan market and utilize technology in its transportation services.

The company has commenced operations in Morocco, joining the list of companies operating in transportation through mobile applications, despite opposition from taxi drivers.

The Russian company has initiated meetings with taxi drivers who work through applications and are affiliated with the Democratic Union of Transport.

Recently, the company, represented by the Director of Government Affairs in North Africa, the Middle East, and Latin American countries, Rachid Al-Ghazi, signed a partnership agreement with the aforementioned union, represented by its Secretary-General, Samir Farabi.

Farabi stated in an interview with Hespress electronic newspaper that this agreement aims to contribute and prepare for participation in all matters related to regulating the transportation sector through modern technology. He affirmed that this is a “sign of openness sought by our union through keeping pace with modernization, digitalization, and the progress experienced by the transportation sector, particularly in terms of connecting with modern technology.”

The General Secretary of the union noted that this partnership will open doors for unemployed young people with higher qualifications, as well as professional drivers in the taxi sector who have not found job opportunities within this field, especially given the challenges and chaos prevalent in the industry.

He also emphasized that through the union’s accumulated experience in transportation through communication and modern technology, they are ready to provide a range of proposals and solutions to enhance the organization and regulation of this sector.

The union representative stressed that the transportation sector utilizing technology requires regulation as it contributes to attracting foreign investments, as encouraged by King Mohammed VI, and facilitates the simplification and streamlining of related procedures.
