Australians from families linked to the terrorist organization ISIS, currently held in camps managed by Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria, are appealing to their government to bring them home.

Media outlets, citing the American ABC site, reported that the organization “Save the Children”, alongside a team of lawyers, have filed a lawsuit in the Federal Court, asking the Australian government to repatriate these Australian detainees to their homeland.

The lawsuit states that an illegally detained group of 26 Australians, including 9 women and 17 children, are held in Syrian camps.

The Australian government had previously repatriated 3 women and 13 children held in northeastern Syrian camps in October last year.

This incident highlights the ongoing international dilemma of how to handle the repatriation of citizens involved with ISIS, shedding light on the complex issue of justice, national security, and humanitarian considerations.
