On Sunday, rescue operations for the victims of the earthquake in Morocco have concluded, and foreign aid teams have begun leaving the country.

Earlier, a 4.8 magnitude aftershock struck central Morocco, affecting residents in the Taroudant and Al Haouz regions.

An official from the Moroccan Institute of Geophysics stated that the aftershock occurred in the Ijil region of the Al Haouz province, southwest of Marrakech. This region was the epicenter of the initial earthquake that struck the area.

The death toll from the devastating earthquake that hit central Morocco has risen to 2,946, with 5,674 reported injuries, according to the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior. Rescue and search efforts for missing people continue.

The Moroccan military is leading the relief efforts with support from relief teams and groups from several countries.

However, challenging terrain, damaged roads, and the remoteness of some villages have complicated these efforts.
