Egypt‘s meteorological authority has forecasted the arrival of the remnants of the “Daniel” storm to the country’s shores on Monday, bringing with it rain.

The authority, in a statement published by Al-Ahram Gate, stated that the storm had already reached the Libyan coast hours earlier, accompanied by heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds, causing waves to reach heights of more than 4 meters.

Libya endured a difficult day due to the storm, leading to the declaration of a state of emergency and readiness in all affected cities. It is expected that the storm will reach the Egyptian coast on Monday, although it will have lost most of its strength.

The meteorological authority further explained that the storm has begun to take on a circular pattern around a low-pressure center, forming a closed eye. It may have acquired tropical characteristics, and it is expected to reach land shortly.

Egyptian meteorologists pointed out that there is still a clear discrepancy between the numerical models in accurately predicting the storm’s path. Models differ on whether the low-pressure center will move toward Benghazi, Ajdabiya, or Sirte.

In any case, the Libyan coast and some inland areas are expected to be affected by the storm, but uncertainty remains in determining the areas most affected by heavy rainfall.

In anticipation of the storm’s arrival, the outgoing Government of National Unity imposed a curfew for three days starting Saturday.
