On Tuesday, dozens of settlers entered the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque, escorted by heavily armed Israeli occupation police. According to the Palestinian News Agency, the settlers’ intrusion occurred in separate groups.
They carried out provocative tours within the mosque’s courtyards and performed Talmudic rituals. Such provocative incursions by Israeli settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque are part of ongoing efforts to establish control over the religious site and impose a new status quo.
The Jewish holidays begin with Rosh Hashanah, the “Jewish New Year,” on the upcoming Saturday and Sunday, corresponding to September 16 and 17. Following this, the “Ten Days of Repentance” will see an escalation in such intrusions.
Afterward, Yom Kippur, the “Day of Atonement,” falls on Monday, September 25. The festival then culminates with Sukkot, the “Feast of Tabernacles,” starting on Saturday, September 30, and continuing until the following Saturday, October 7.
