Gilberto Hernandez, a Panama defender, tragically lost his life after being shot in Colon city, as reported by local outlets. The news was confirmed by the Panamanian Football Federation (FEPAFUT).

26-year-old Hernandez was affiliated with Club Atletico Independiente de La Chorrera in the Panamanian Football League and had two caps for the national team.

FEPAFUT expressed their sorrow over the loss on social media platform X, stating, “The sad demise of Gilberto Hernandez deeply saddens us…” They extended their sympathy to Hernandez’s family, Club Atletico Independiente de La Chorrera, and the broader Panamanian football community.
