The Donetsk People’s Republic authorities reported on Monday that Ukrainian forces bombarded the territory of the republic 68 times in the past day, launching a total of 235 projectiles of various calibres.
Additionally, the representation office reported that eight civilians were injured in the attacks, including one child.
According to a statement posted on Telegram by the Donetsk People’s Republic’s representation at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of War Crimes Issues in Ukraine, the mission recorded 68 instances of shelling by Ukrainian forces in the last 24 hours.
The attacks were distributed across different fronts, with 14 incidents on the Donetsk axis, 51 on the Gorlovka axis, and 3 on the Yasinovataya axis.
The statement highlighted that Ukrainian forces fired a total of 235 projectiles of different calibers during these incidents.
This increase in hostilities raises concerns about the safety and security of civilians in the conflict-affected areas.
Earlier this month, Russian strikes killed 3 people and wounded 12 others in eastern Ukraine, while Ukrainian shelling on a Russian village near the border led to the death of a woman.
As per the Agence France-Presse, Vadim Lyashkin, the governor of the Donetsk region in Ukraine, stated, “Overnight, the Russians attacked Dobropillia (a town about 45 kilometres from the front line) with drones (Shahed); in the morning, rescue workers found the bodies of two people under the rubble of a house.”
He further mentioned that the Russian military also shelled the town of Chasiv Yar, located near the front in the Donetsk region, with artillery in the morning, killing a 66-year-old man.
