The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the elimination of 750 Ukrainian military personnel, the downing of an “Su-25” fighter jet, and 73 drones across various fronts in the last 24 hours.

According to the daily statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense on the military operation in Ukraine:

On the Kupyansk front in the Kharkov region of eastern Ukraine, our forces repelled 5 attacks, resulting in enemy losses of 30 military personnel, armored vehicles, weapons, and Western artillery.
On the Krasny Limansk front in the Donetsk Republic, our forces repelled two attacks, with enemy losses including 230 military personnel, weapons, military equipment, and combat vehicles.
On the Donetsk front, units from the “Southern” group of forces strengthened their positions, with enemy losses amounting to 310 soldiers, and the destruction of weapons, Western artillery, and armored vehicles.
On the South Donetsk front, 155 military personnel were eliminated, and enemy equipment, weapons, and Western artillery were destroyed.
On the Kherson front, enemy losses amounted to 25 military personnel, and Western artillery was destroyed.
An “Su-25” fighter jet was shot down in the Novotroitskoye area in Donetsk.
40 Ukrainian drones were shot down in Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Kherson, and Kharkov.
Russian air defenses downed 12 Czech-made “Vampire” missiles.
73 Ukrainian drones were destroyed in Kharkov, Luhansk, Donetsk, and Zaporozhye.

The Russia-Ukraine war, which has significantly escalated tensions in the region, began with Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014, followed by the outbreak of conflict in Ukraine’s eastern territories. The situation worsened when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, which has been described as the largest war in Europe since World War II. This invasion was met with international condemnation and led to a series of sanctions against Russia, as well as substantial military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine from Western countries.

The roots of the conflict can be traced back to historical, political, and cultural disputes between the two countries. Prior to the invasion, there were significant military buildups by Russia near Ukraine’s borders, despite Russian officials denying any plans for aggression. The conflict has led to devastating impacts on civilians and infrastructure, with widespread reports of war crimes. Ukrainian forces have shown resilience and effectiveness, bolstered by international support and military aid, challenging Russia’s military might and undermining its global standing.
