At least seven people have tragically lost their lives, with nine others injured, in rain-related incidents across various parts of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.l
Khattar Ahmad, the director-general of the provincial rescue agency, informed reporters that roof collapse incidents occurred in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bannu, and Bajaur, as reported by The Nation, a Pakistani newspaper, on Sunday.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority reported on Saturday that four houses were damaged due to heavy rainfall. Expressing sorrow, Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur ordered compensation for the affected families.
He also instructed authorities to reopen closed roads and provide assistance to individuals stranded due to rain and landslides.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, located in the northwest of Pakistan, is prone to natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and landslides due to its rugged terrain and monsoon rains.
The region’s infrastructure and housing often suffer damage during heavy rainfall, leading to casualties and displacement of families.
The provincial government and rescue agencies remain vigilant during the rainy season to respond promptly to such incidents and provide relief to affected communities.
